How can I remove dried candle wax from my wall?
My mom left a candle burning last night, and she picked it up and dropped it and candle wax went everywhere (mostly on the wall) and I was wondering if anyone knew anything to get it off (besides painting over it). If it helps the wax is blue. It's also on the carpet.
Sandpaper and re-painting is the only solution.
You can try other methods, but you'll just end up sanding and re-painting in the end. It takes less than 5 minutes if you have matching paint.
Sand with fine grit sandpaper. Make sure you get every little bit of wax off or the paint won't stick. Don't worry if you remove paint along with the wax...you'll be re-painting anyway and it won't matter. After you've removed very little bit of wax, re-paint.
If you don't have matching paint, find a close match and paint the whole wall. If you paint one wall in a close match, it will look like an exact match.
As for the carpet, you might be able to snip the wax off with scissors. Pull up while snipping and work with one thread at a time to avoid divots.
