Are there induction based hotplates used for cooking food directly in steel/copper/iron utensils without them
I am planning to buy a hotplate using technique of Magnetic INDUCTION to cook food directly in fast and efficient manner. Do they really work and worth investing 100 us dollars. It is reported to be manufactured in Hongkong and imported to India. Is there any brand called CARMEL in hongkong. during demonstration it heated milk from cold stage to boil in 3 minutes. If it performs such a way it definitely saves lot of gas. Is there any answer?
An induction hotplate is electric. You said it definitely saves a lot of gas in your details, so I wanted to be sure you were aware of that.
The induction method heats the pot or pan directly by inducing an electric current in the utensil by using a magnetic field. It doesn't heat an electric burner which then heats the utensil by conduction. It works well and is efficient. But you have to use magnetic cookware, steel or iron. No aluminum or ceramic and stainless steel doesn't work very well as it is not very magnetic. Copper clad is ok as long as it's clad steel or iron, not stainless or aluminum.
