Corded Edge
Can you help me understand this knitting pattern?

I'm new to knitting and I don't understand this last part of the pattern:

Break working yarn (does this mean bind off?), leaving a tail long enough for grafting. Remove provisional stitches and place live stitches on needle. Knit into the little half stitch at the end of the non i-cord edge to make up equal number of stitches on each needle.

Here is the page the pattern is on for more information:

Thanks!

"Break working yarn, leaving a tail long enough for grafting." From the last stitch made, measure off the working yarn to THREE TIMES the width of the hat. It's about 8" wide, so measure off 3 x 8" or 24"--then add 6" for good measure. So 24" + 6" = 30". Cut the yarn at about the 30" mark.

"Remove provisional stitches and place live stitches on needle." Your cast-on is a provisional cast-on, which you can pull out and remove. When you do, you will be left with live stitches. You will have 1 stitch less on the beginning end of the hat than you do on the ending end, so you will need to pick up 1 additional stitch on that end. To do that, "Knit into the little half stitch at the end of the non-I-cord edge to make up equal number of stitches on each needle."

Next, you are going to hold the two needles side by side with the free yarn at the right side of the back needle, thread the 30" yarn into a tapestry needle, and follow the Knit Witch's video instructions to weave the two ends together.
