How do I shop for the "doll look"?
My friends and family say I have an adorable glow around me that makes me look like a doll. I have no idea how to shop for clothes, so what would you say is a "doll look" and where would I find these clothes? No, not barbie doll or little porcelain doll dresses. Haha. Just cute clothes I guess.
I would wear a really a structured skirt...either with pleats or a with volumous underskirt. Or a patterned tulip skirt with a fitted top tucked in. Dresses are also a doll-fashion must (especially those with a "sweetheart" neckline: (example of sweetheart neckline: http://www.nexteve.com/images/D/F6450A.JPG)
Mix summery florals, pastel colours, intricate lace, vintage prints, ruffles and puffed sleeves. Instead of thinking "doll" think "new romantic" or "childlike"...if that makes it easier.
Most doll-like silhouettes are fitted bodices on the upper half and short but big, sticky out skirts.
Wear cute accessories like bows, false eyelashes, heart-shaped sunglasses, knee high socks, thick white tights, "novelty" jewellery and a lot of bright colours.
For make up, put emphasis on the eyes (there's tons of tutorials on doll-like make up here's one http://www.wikihow.com/Do-Doll-Like-Makeup), have porcelain skin, pink blush and bright lips. Wear your hair in tight ringlets, bunches or waves. Try and make it as big as possible, to make your body look smaller!
If you don't want to look too severe mix and match all I've advised with some plainer clothes (e.g. frilly skirt with a plain white t shirt, or a baby-doll lacy blouse with black jeans).
