Anybody have a flat screen above their fireplace?
We are moving and in the living room their is a huge fireplace. So we were going to put a flat screen above the fireplace. My question is where do people put their dvd player and cable box?
there's nothing on the side of the fireplace. The fireplace takes up the whole wall.
I have a couple of TV's on the wall and a very large LCD flat screen TV above my fireplace and have never had a problem. You need to use commonsense that's all. I have a mantelpiece that sticks out a little so heat tends to rise up and be pushed forward away from the TV. I too was worried at first about both the heat affecting the TV and the height as I thought it would be way too high, but found that neither have been a problem. As for the equipment I have a small glass fronted cabinet beside my fireplace that works well for me but in the other room all the wires run out through the wall and up through the roof to all my equipment inside a purpose built cupboard, so in that room all you see is the TV on the wall and no equipment at all. Being that your equipment is in another room you will need a remote sensor for your remote controls to work in this situation. You can basically run your cables to anyplace as long as you have access through the walls or roof etc. I would recommend an approved bracket as the cheap ones can buckle and your TV will fall off the wall (this happened to my friend). I had mine installed by a professional it does cost a bit more but you never have to worry about it again. Good luck
