What is this dessert?
Well, It was about the size of a doughnut hole, and I'm guessing it's Jewish since I've only ever seen it at synagogue, an no-where else. It's the texture of a pancake on the outside, but very thin, and whipped cream filled. Another one of the same kind looked like a miniature version of the same thing, but instead of doughnut hole shaped, it looked like a chocolate doughnut bar about the size of a fun size snicker bar.
It's not Hanukkah Sufganiyot, It's different.
Sounds like you're describing cream puffs or profiteroles, and the second sounds like little chocolate eclairs, which uses the same kind of dough and filling and is drizzled with a chocolate glaze. Like these:
