Identify Change Readiness Within Your Organization

At the centre of enabling any organization to thrive and ultimately excel within today's competitive landscape lies a technology framework capable of meeting today's marketplace requirements while positioning the company for future growth and challenges. Although this may sound obvious, more and more executives doubt their company's ability to effectively prepare for change. In order to identify the change readiness challenges faced by organizations, a framework must be established at a higher level to identify overall objectives and a sustainable and receptive environment.

When preparing an organization for change there are three fundamental actions executives should take. Firstly, the organization as well as its leaders must understand the challenges they are facing. Entering into unchartered waters can cause fear, uncertainty and doubt within any organization and its employees. In order to successfully prepare your organization for change, it is paramount to understand the full task at hand and the potential obstacles to achieving your organization's readiness goals. Secondly, it is crucial to the overall success of your organization to assess your current level of readiness by conducting a psychometric survey. An organization must first determine their current standing, evaluating where they fall on the ‘readiness continuum' in order to proceed on their journey to future transformation. Finally, organizations must implement well-planned strategies in order for successful change management. A change readiness plan can be tailored specifically to individual organisations, allowing for a well-planned and implemented change management solution.

The importance of change readiness within an organisation is often seen as overwhelming, with many often resiting any form of change due to fear and uncertainty. Despite the excuses, organisation change cannot be ignored, seen as optional, or left to last-minute planning. The reality is that change will happen – no matter how hard we work to prevent it. In today's ever-changing and developing society, organizations must be prepared to reinvent themselves in the face of change – whether they planned for it or not. Instead of waiting for change to make a surprise arrival on your organizations doorstep, it is best to take control and manage change in a deliberate and proactive manner.

It is vital to recognise when enabling change within any organization that employees are typically the first to feel the implementation of any form of change. Changing a company's products, service, or business processes can be a significant undertaking, but unless the organization is first capable of change at the employee level the entire change processes could be jeopardised. An employee base either unwilling or incapable of change can prevent an organization from excelling and could eventually lead to its demise.
