What do you put in your carry-on luggage?
I am departing from the USA to Peru for 10 days and it has been 11 years since I've been out of the country and want to know what people generally put in their carry-on luggage. I read the descriptions from Delta Airlines such as all liquids, gels, pastes much be in less than 3 oz containers zipped in a clear plastic baggie which must be taken out and presented at security check point. I was thinking of taking all my toiletries such as my astringent, lotions, deodorant, perfume, mouthwash, ect. But some say it is best to put those in your check in luggage. I am also concerned with some toiletries that I have that are very expensive because the Delta website said some liquids and gels can be confiscated in other countries. Also wanted to keep my phone, MP3 player, ect. in my carry on for easy access. And what about medication such as birth control pills and OTC migraine medication? So what do you take in your carry-on and what do you put in your check in luggage?
Try & leave expensive toiletries at home unless you absolutely need them. They can break, be stolen & confiscated. Travel always with the possibility that an item may disappear. Put all you can into your checked luggage. In your carry on only take what you will need on the trip itself. Also, medications should be in your carry on. I also pack sox to wear on the flight, a small travel pillow and a snack. Wear layers as sometimes it gets hot & then cold. Be aware you have to carry your carry ons, LOL, so you don't want 50 pounds!
