Paper book or e-book ?
In the last years a new way of reading books has apeared. Yes it's the digital book or e-book. A text and image-based publication in digital form produced, published, and readable on computers or other digital devices has became the last trend for many authors and readers. One of the reasons of this increasing type of publishing in the global crisis. E-books offer advantages that has made many fans all over the world:they're easily readable (with zoom functions, letter resizing, and so on),they are cheap to buy (in at least half the price from a paper book), they are environmentally friendly ( no need of paper, so no trees to cut, no need of printing chemicals) and not at last, the storage is meaningless. The only disadvantage is the necessity of owning a reader. These readers are still expensive. But with every day more and more companies see the investment in such technology a good way of making money and I only see that the prices will fall and readers will be more easly to buy. Another reason of growing the e-book market is easier way for authors to publish. Publishers implement e-books software in their portofolio. It's more efective and much cheaper for authors to publish a book because the need of printing a limited number of books disapears. Anyone can publish a book. With a small sofware authors can upload their book, make an online store and money will flow more easly in their pockets.
I do not expect that market of paper book will fall very soon. Is still a growing market even that e-books market has became very fast a competitive market. Paper books are easily obtainable with the online books store everywhere, they don't need a power source to function, long periods spent in front of a computer are not healthy, and the prices are still affordable. And another thing, you will always find second hand books.
I don't see a problem for printing companies in the expansion of e-book market. Paper books market is a strong market, with bilions of buyers around the world, and one of the reasons of remaing the number one way to read a book is that the quality of new books is and will be greater in this area. This is because, as long as anyone can publish an e-book on the internet and it's not rewied by a publisher house I doubt that it will be a great book.
