What is this jewelry item called?
I have a flat stone that I want to make into a necklace. I don't want any setting - just some sort of small flat piece that would epoxy to the back of the stone. The flat piece would have a small ring on it through which the necklace chain would go. So when I shop in the jewelry findings, do you know what this item might be called? I'm sure something like this is available if I only knew the name of it.

It's called a bail. The flat stone that you have is called a cabochon. Sometimes you'll find the setting by looking for "bail", sometimes you'll find it by looking for "cabochon setting". Bails come in many different shapes and sizes.
