What's the difference between wide screen and full screen?
Like when you're buying a DVD?
You have a choice between wide screen and full screen.
I know that one means that it fits the whole screen, but cuts off part of the picture.
Which one is that, and what does the other one mean?

Widescreen means that it is formatted to fit a 16:9 screen. On a 4:3 screen, it will have bars, or more bar than as seen with a 16:9 screen.
A full screen fills a 4:3 with the proper aspect, either by unmatting (the film is shot full height, with the top and bottom cropped off for widescreen; the cinematographer putting the important scene elements withing the widscreen window on his or her preview screen), or by cropping the sides of a 16:9 picture.
Get the widescreen versions. You will get what the director intended, and see the whole picture as you should. Plus, when you get a widescreen TV, you will be good to go.
